Since its start nearly 10 years ago, the Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award has enabled eleven remarkable young Americans to further their studies abroad. These individuals come from diverse backgrounds and possess expertise in a wide range of disciplines. What unites them is their exceptional academic track records, ambitious goals, and a shared passion for global learning.
This year, we are thrilled to announce Tyler Hoffman as the recipient of the Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award. Tyler, a student at Trinity University, exemplifies the adventurous spirit, academic excellence, and commitment to global understanding that Bright!Tax values deeply.

His upcoming semester abroad will take him across multiple European countries, where he aims to gain a deeper understanding of diverse cultures and values. He has worked diligently to graduate a semester early from Trinity University, a feat that opened the door to a prestigious internship with KPMG, one of the Big 4 accounting firms. During the firm’s busiest season, this internship will provide Tyler with invaluable experience as he prepares to enter the workforce.
What’s even more impressive is Tyler’s dedication to making his dream of studying abroad a reality. Despite the challenges of being an Accounting major—where studying abroad is often deemed impossible—Tyler took on senior- and junior-level courses a year early, surpassing all prerequisites with flying colors. His determination and academic prowess have allowed him to seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and he’s not just ready to participate; he’s ready to excel.
