Bright!Tax Shortlisted For Tax Provider of the Year

FEM Emma award

Bright!Tax has been shortlisted for the prestigious FEM EMMA Tax Provider of the Year Award for the EMEA region. The Awards ceremony takes place on Friday November 9th at the O2 Intercontinental in London, England.   For the last eight years, the EMMA Awards have recognized excellence and Innovation in the field of Global Mobility and Expat Service Provision.

The awards cover three regions, the Americas, the Asia Pacific region, and Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Last year, Bright!Tax was shortlisted for Tax Provider of the Year in all three regions, winning two. This year we have also been shortlisted in every region, reflecting our ongoing commitment to perfecting our client experience, rather than resting on our laurels.

Despite many rival firms inevitably now copying our ground breaking innovative technologies that we developed first to enable expats around the world to file their US taxes from abroad more easily, we are continuing to innovate, and the new EMMA nomination recognizes that.

Our industry first innovations include an intuitive online Client Organizer that is personalized for each client to let them provide us with just the personal and tax details relevant to their situation. By contrast, at other firms clients have to deal with a generic, unwieldy form that was designed to cover all circumstances and so can be up to fifteen pages long.

We also introduced a mobile app to allow our clients to perform many of the functions involved in filing taxes from abroad on their phone.

“We’re thrilled to have been shortlisted once again for the 2018 Tax Provider of the Year FEM EMMA award in recognition of our groundbreaking and innovative approach to providing tax compliance solutions for Americans living and working overseas.”
– Greg Dewald, Bright!Tax Founder

In a world where our clients, who as expats are by definition international travelers, are used to controlling almost every element of their life from a mobile, device from travel to banking and investing, it seemed like a logical progression to enable them to access their tax filing from their phone or tablet too. We are still the only expat tax firm to offer this groundbreaking convenience and functionality.

This year though we have innovated once again with a major new innovation in our field.

Since FATCA, many Americans based overseas have struggled to access banking services abroad due to the additional administrative burden that having American clients now places on foreign banks and investment firms. Rather than just complain or sit on the sidelines, we have found a solution: our clients can now access the same global banking services normally exclusively reserved for United Nations employees based overseas.

Thanks to this innovative new partnership (and we are the only exterior commercial partner of the UN organization that provides these services), we are proud to provide our expat clients affected by FATCA with the ability to continue living normal lives abroad by their being able to access personal banking and other financial services from overseas.

Greg Dewald, Bright!Tax founder and CEO, responded to the announcement of our being shortlisted for the 2018 Tax Provider of the Year award, saying: “We’re thrilled to have been shortlisted once again for the 2018 Tax Provider of the Year FEM EMMA award in recognition of our groundbreaking and innovative approach to providing tax compliance solutions for Americans living and working overseas. We are very much looking forward to the Awards ceremony in London in November”.
